Restorative Community Interventions
Portsmouth Mediation Service (PMS) in collaboration with Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Portsmouth and the University of Portsmouth has secured further funding through Wessex Health Partners to build on our CPAR findings of how conflict impacts our health and wellbeing. Our research team of Laura & Nadiya are gathering data to build a case to establish a new ‘Restorative Community of Learning’ research agenda focused on conflict, its health impacts and restorative interventions.
They hosted their second focus group at Spark Community Space where they explored how individuals would like to engage with restorative learning circles. The session brought together a warm and diverse group, offering a range of valuable insights into preferred learning styles, accessibility, and what helps people feel comfortable and willing to participate.
The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, supported by the team at SPARK and a gorgeous cake made by local café Offbeat, which helped create a sense of ease and connection among participants.
The session concluded on a joyful note with an impromptu ABBA singalong, reflecting the openness, trust, and community spirit that emerged throughout the discussion. PMS are very grateful to everyone who attended and contributed so thoughtfully to shaping the direction of this work…… mamamia!
